This story starts on Sunday, September 21, 1969, and concludes five days later on Friday, September 26, 1969. U.S. high school boys were banned from school for wearing long hair. Political activists protested the Vietnam War during the Democratic National Convention. Cuba refused to sign an international hijacking treaty after an uptick in skyjackings. And scientists suggested that forced sterilization was the only way to curb the recent population explosion.
